To kick off the knoell Symposium 2021, Dr Michael Cleuvers, on behalf of knoell as organiser, and Dr Volker Soballa, who has been active as chair of the knoell Symposium for several years, are pleased to open this year's online event and welcome speakers and participants.
Dr Michael Cleuvers
Managing Director Products & Markets | knoell Germany GmbH
Dr Cleuvers studied Biology at the RWTH Aachen and is holding a Ph.D. in Ecotoxicology.
After several years in research and teaching he joined knoell in 2004 working on environmental risk assessments
for agrochemicals, biocides and chemicals.
In 2006 he build up the working group for the REACH business and in 2010 he became the leader of the business unit REACH & global regulatory affairs.
Since 2013 Dr Cleuvers is Director of Products & Markets at knoell Germany GmbH.
Dr Volker Soballa
Head of Global Product Stewardship | Evonik Industries AG
He finished his studies in Food Chemistry and Toxicology at Technical University of Berlin in 1993. Finalising his thesis in 1997, he then became post doc at the Institute for Toxicology and Environmental Hygiene at Technical University of Munich, Germany. In 1999, Volker Soballa joined SKW Trostberg AG as „Regulatory Affairs Officer and Toxicologist” in the Product Safety/Toxicology Department. In 2003, he changed position to ESHQ-Department of Corporate Centre of Degussa AG, Düsseldorf.
Since 2011, Volker Soballa is Head of Global Product Stewardship in the Corporate Centre of Evonik Industries AG, Essen, Germany.
