MRL Codex Publishes

The 50th Session of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) was held on 9-14 April 2018 in Haikou, China.

Nearly 500 MRLs were recommended for inclusion in the international Codex pesticide MRL standard.

These will be officially established if approved by the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) during their July meeting.

Other topics in the agenda:

• revisions to the Codex Classification of Food and Feed;
• a possible revision of the international estimate of short-term intake (IESTI) equation;
• the 2019 JMPR evaluations for Codex Schedules and Priority Lists of Pesticides;
• ongoing development of a national registration database of pesticides. 

An extraordinary session of the Joint Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR) is planned for May 2019, hosted by Canada. Details, MRLs proposals and the other meeting topics can be found in the final report.
