After a long political tug-of-war, the German Standard Ordinance on Facilities for Handling Substances that are Hazardous to Water (AwSV) has come into force on 1 August 2017!

This new nationwide ordinance succeeds the existing one of the German federal states and replaces the General Administrative Regulation under the Federal Water Act on the Classification of Substances that are Hazardous to Waters in Water Hazard Classes (VwVwS). The new AwSV harmonizes hitherto existing water hazard classes (WHC) with the CLP regulation (EG Nr. 1272/2008) which may entail modifications in existing WHC classifications. Further novelties of the AwSV include the introduction of a category of substances being generally hazardous to water as well as the consideration of floating, liquid substances.

On 19 October 2017 knoell academy offers a seminar dedicated to the practical implications of the new AwSV. Please find further details on the proposed seminar agenda on the knoell academy website.
