REACH: New Database for SVHC`s in Articles

Are your Products Affected?

In July 2018, ECHA has announced that it will establish a new database on the presence of hazardous chemicals in articles by the end of 2019. This is based on the waste package the European Council adopted in May and will contribute to the EU's circular economy policy.

The aim of this database is to help waste treatment operators improve recycling management by ensuring the traceability of substances of high concern. In addition, this information will also be made available for consumers. Affected companies will have to submit this information by the end of 2020 at the latest.

There are several legal obligations for suppliers of articles resulting from the inclusion of a substance in the Candidate List. This includes communication obligations down the supply chain towards customers and consumers, or even the need to notify to ECHA within 6 months.

To ensure compliance for your products, it is strongly recommended to check whether you are affected by any of these obligations.
