Mircoplastics, small pieces of plastic, less than 5mm in length, occur in the environment as a consequence of plastic pollution.
Scientists have discovered that agricultural soils could actually hold more microplastics than the ocean basins. Agricultural lands are likely to be the most plastic-contaminated places outside of landfill and urban spaces.
This leads to regulatory challenges.
