#3 Agrochemical Regulations across five continents - European Union

Regulations across five continents – European regulations

This weeks issue on changes in regulatory affairs across five continents focuses on the European market and the top challenges producers and manufacturers have to face.

With European authorities striving to increase organic farming significantly within the next decade, revisions of the regulatory process aim to optimise the registration of biocontrol products. But applicants face a number of challenges in this process, some of which being the additional testing required, and delays due to lack of evaluation experts in the member states. These challenges prove to be especially difficult for small companies trying to enter the European market. To create change, applicants are advised to be proactive and cooperate with industry associations and contacts in NGOs on national and international levels to lobby for a fast track registration system of biocontrol products.
